FED:Defence still facing challenges: Smith
Defence minister STEPHEN SMITH says his department is still struggling with financial matters.
Fairfax has reported that a confidential cable from the US embassy in Canberra .. obtained
by the WikiLeaks website .. suggests Australia may have to sell Defence assets and delay
major purchases in order to meet the department's budget.
Mr SMITH says that while newspaper reports aren't always accurate .. Defence is facing
a raft of challenges.
