NSW: Mayor to be asked to stand aside says Cr Paul Harrington
Liverpool mayor GEORGE PACIULLO will be asked to stand aside tonight over his involvementin the massive Oasis development in south western Sydney.
Liverpool council and the Bulldogs are involved in a joint venture to build the ambitioussporting and residential development in the heart of Liverpool.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption is set to examine whether Bulldogs rugbyleague officials acted corruptly after claims that $900,000 of council funds were takenout of the project and paid to the Bulldogs.
Councillor PAUL HARRINGTON has told ABC radio that at tonight's council meeting he'llask that the mayor stand aside during the ICAC inquiry.
The inquiry follows news that the Bulldogs' management had breached the salary capby almost $1 million.
The Bulldogs were subsequently docked nearly all their competition points.
